“More than a few Christians might be surprised to learn that the call to be involved in creating justice for the poor is just as essential and non-negotiable within the spiritual life as is Jesus’ commandment to pray and keep our private lives in order.”
-Ronald Rolheiser from The Holy Longing: The Search for a Christian Spirituality

My wife and I have four good friends who are preparing a trip to build schools in Myanmar, a project we support. I invite you to take a look at the Myanmar/Burma Schools Project Foundation, who is committed to building schools and providing educational opportunities for the impoverished children of Myanmar. Also, 100 Schools – setting up educational facilities in rural Myanmar.

I know that each one of you is engaged in many forms of outreach to others, different forms of work for social justice. Your faith is at work in the work you provide.

These words from Quaker scholar and mystic, John Yungblut, are appropriate:

There is an inescapable connection between contemplative prayer
and motivation to engage in social reform. It is contemplative
prayer that confirms the inseparable unity of all things.
We are one.
We find ourselves constrained to engage in social action,
not as an elective, but as a required course.

“Do all the good you can. By all the means you can.
In all the ways you can. In all the places you can.
At all times you can. To all people you can.
As long as ever you can.”
-John Wesley

“There can be little growth in holiness without growth in a sense of social justice.”
-Edward Hays

With you in awakening to who we are in God and to who God is in us now. Where are you hurling the moral ounces of your being?

Consciousness, compassion, courage.

We are all sparks of the Divine flame
Blessed Be
Boldly Be
Compassionate Be
